Pace Canyon and Blanding
Do we ever stay home? We tried out our new side by side with Mary and Boyd on their family range. We discovered it is a very dusty ride.We also found family graffiti!
We are still trying to find a particular fly in the Blanding area. On this trip we combined collecting with visiting scenic sites.
A bit more adventure than we wanted: While driving in the mountains a man suggested that we return to Blanding via Cottonwood Canyon. He failed to mention that the road and creek intertwine multiple times, that there had been a heavy rainstorm, and that the creek would get larger and crossings would be more precarious as we progressed down the canyon.

Costa Rica in 2013
We spent the first week of August in Costa Rica, where Wayne was invited to help with an insect survey in the mountains north of San Jose. We packed for tropical sunshine but were warned to bring rain gear, which we put to good use. We discovered that August is part of the "rainy season" in Costa Rica and it rained every afternoon. Since we were in the mountains it was also quite cool. Collecting was successful, we saw many of our entomological friends, and I have a new sweater from Walmart in San Jose, Costa Rica.
